This department has been working since 1974, two years after the opening of the Turkmen National Conservatory named after Maya Kulyyeva as the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute of Arts. At the beginning, this department was a part of the united departments; in 1990, it began to operate independently. During the years of the opening of the department, a choir was created from the group of its students. At the beginning, the number of this small group is gradually increasing (about 20 people). In the last decade, the department has a choral group made up of students.
