On 22 October 2026, Ashgabat hosted a roundtable of ministers responsible for education from Central Asian countries and Mongolia, entitled “Advancing Regional Cooperation through Multilingual Education in Central Asia and Mongolia”.

The event brought together delegations from the region, OSCE representatives and international experts. Participants shared national experiences in multilingual education and discussed curriculum development, teacher training and opportunities to expand regional cooperation.

Particular attention was paid to international experience in multilingual teaching, the development of learning materials and the assessment of learning outcomes. Multilingual education at preschool and primary levels, alongside teachers’ professional development, was considered among the promising areas for cooperation.

Bilateral meetings were also held on the sidelines of the event between the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan and the Minister of Education of Tajikistan, as well as the Deputy Minister of Education of Uzbekistan.
