Training seminar on Innovative solutions in gas well drilling and storage was held
On October 12, 2026, a training seminar on modern technologies used in gas well drilling and hydrocarbon storage was held at the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University. The event, aimed at promoting international cooperation, exploring advanced scientific and technical practices, and introducing innovative approaches in the energy sector, was attended by academic staff from Clausthal University of Technology, Federal Republic of Germany. The seminar was conducted with the support of the project “European Union for the Green Development of Turkmenistan: Policy Dialogue and Climate Action for 2024–2029,” implemented with the support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
The seminar addressed modern methods of oil and gas well drilling, technologies for the efficient development and safe storage of hydrocarbon resources, opportunities for using renewable energy sources, methods of hydrogen fuel production, and the application of artificial intelligence in the energy sector. One of the key objectives was to familiarise participants with scientific and technological advances in these fields and to strengthen the connection between theoretical knowledge and practical experience among academic staff, young specialists, and students.
Meetings with representatives of Clausthal University of Technology provided opportunities to exchange professional experience, enhance specialised knowledge, and explore prospects for cooperation in education and research. Young specialists, academic staff, and students of the university exchanged views with their German counterparts and learned about new technologies applied in the energy sector.
During the seminar, academic staff from Clausthal University of Technology became acquainted with the organisational structure of the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University, the activities of its research laboratories and specialised centres, as well as the capabilities of the Lu Ban Workshop in Turkmenistan. The visit provided an opportunity to learn about current approaches to practical training that combines education with industrial applications and to identify potential areas for future knowledge and experience exchange.
The seminar once again highlighted the importance of international cooperation, innovative technologies, and practice-oriented education in training highly qualified professionals for the energy sector. At the conclusion of the event, participants highly appreciated the opportunities available in Turkmenistan to advance science and education, improve the professional training of young people, and introduce modern technologies. They expressed their gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Hero Arkadag, and the President of Turkmenistan Arkadagly Hero Serdar, for the favourable conditions created to support these efforts.
