Political Discussion on the Topic “Avaza — An Important and Significant Business Platform”
On October 8, 2026, the Yagshygeldi Kakaev International Oil and Gas University, in cooperation with Turkmenistan’s “Altyn Asyr” television channel, prepared and presented to television audiences a discussion entitled “Avaza — An Important and Significant Business Platform.” Once again, we witnessed how the National Tourist Zone “Avaza” has evolved from a recreational destination into a major venue for high-level political and diplomatic negotiations and international summits.
As is well known, in recent years, cooperation between Turkmenistan, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and the countries of Central Asia has entered a new and more active phase. In 2026, Turkmenistan holds the chairmanship of the CIS. The meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS, held from October 7 to 9 in the National Tourist Zone “Avaza,” the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the Caspian Environmental Summit, are of particular strategic importance not only at the regional level but also within the global geopolitical and geo-economic landscape. Heads of state, ministers, representatives of international organizations, and experts gathered in Avaza. The key issues addressed during these historic events include politics, economics, ecology, and humanitarian cooperation. Conferences, cultural events, and exhibitions are being held in the National Tourist Zone “Avaza” to address these areas. These high-level events provide an important platform for elevating interregional cooperation to a new level, developing Eurasian transport and energy corridors, and adopting joint decisions to preserve the ecological balance of the Caspian Sea. On October 7, the International Women's Dialogue entitled “The Role of Women in Maintaining Peace and Achieving Sustainable Development” commenced its work in Avaza. The year 2026 was declared the Year of Healthcare in the CIS.
Currently, cargo turnover between the Turkmenbashi International Seaport and the Baku International Sea Trade Port is increasing. The shortest and most competitive logistics chain along the China–Central Asia–Caucasus–Europe route is taking shape. Discussions were held on the prospects for exporting “green energy” to Europe through the development of renewable energy sources in the region, particularly solar and wind power, as well as the interconnection of electricity grids. Efforts were also coordinated to scientifically study environmental risks arising from the decline in the Caspian Sea’s water level and climate change, and to develop a plan for joint urgent measures. Environmental issues, nature conservation, the introduction of environmentally friendly technologies, and the transition to a “green economy” were also among the key topics of these historic events.
In his speech at the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, the esteemed President of Turkmenistan noted: “Turkmenistan maintains friendly relations with the countries of the world and international organizations. It provides comprehensive support for the efforts of the international community aimed at ensuring global peace, security, and sustainable development.” Inspired by the achievements made, the speakers wished Hero Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar good health, long lives, and continued success in all their ambitious undertakings.
