“A Consulted People is a Prosperous State” — Round Table Discussion

On September 23, 2026, the regular meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan was held. There is also profound significance in holding the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty every year in the first month of golden autumn, on the eve of the main national holiday of our country — Independence Day, which is celebrated on a grand and solemn scale. This event, which is of great socio-political significance, serves as an important opportunity to analyze the achievements and major milestones attained by our country during the years of independent development, as well as to identify the most important objectives with a view to the future. The Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan is a nationwide forum that brings together representatives of broad segments of society, including young people. In connection with this important event of national and state significance, the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University, jointly with the “Altyn Asyr: Turkmenistan” television channel, prepared a round-table discussion.

As was noted in the speeches, one of the noble principles rooted in the traditions of our ancestors is to address important tasks and issues of national significance by taking into account the interests of the people, listening to public opinion, and consulting with the people. This principle, which has become an established tradition among the Turkmen people, plays an important role in strengthening universally significant social values such as unity, solidarity, and sustainable development, as well as in further consolidating the country’s socio-economic achievements. Indeed, the tradition of consultation, one of the distinctive features of national democracy, creates broad opportunities for increasing the political engagement of citizens by enabling them to express their opinions, views, and proposals on matters of importance to the people and the state and of public significance, as well as to contribute their voice and efforts to the reforms being implemented. Such democratic traditions and noble principles are being strengthened in Turkmen society, while the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan is carrying out extensive work in this area.

The speakers wished the Hero Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar good health, long lives, and continued success in their extensive activities. The speakers noted that, inspired by the motto of 2026, the year we have entered, we should further strengthen our unity around the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, and Arkadagly Hero Serdar, and work creatively and productively during this glorious year.
